All you natural health mamas...

Submitted by bearsmama on Tue, 10/14/2008 - 12:04am.

Bear has an eye infection. Its not swollen, but has been pretty watery (since he got poked in the eye last week by another baby) and today started putting out a lot of green goo. I have been removing the goo with warm water, giving his eye warm compresses and putting breastmilk on it, and so far nothing has even made it look like its going away Sad

Anyone have any ideas?

It takes longer for the symptoms to disappear with natural remedies than with prescription medication but that doesn't mean it's not working. If it's only been a day or two wait till wednesday and then see if it needs attention. If it starts to get a lot worse before then take him to the doc. If it's not getting worse keep up with the Breast milk and it should go away in a few days/week.

I got it too! Blech. It was the worst in the morning and I soaked her (and my) eyes with warm water and then used breast milk (I think squirting it directly from breast to eye is best so no additional bacteria from a cloth or anything can get in there).

Keep it up and try to get some milk in there every time you nurse. It took 3-4 days for mine and the girl's to clear up completely. BTW, we had no red, just yellow crusty goop and a little swollen. [I think pinkeye is bacterial and you might want to get a topical antibiotic for that since it's so contagious.] Good luck!
