I've been tempted to go out for a run while he's watching tv. We aren't there yet. But I was thinking, I could write down my cell number and give it to him, then run around the block, check on him, run around the block (about the size of two city blocks), check on him.... *eyeroll*

But yes, I remember that feeling of immense freedom! You can also take a shower while she's watching a movie, right? I think my DS was about your DD's age when I started doing that. I'd let him play out in the yard too while I sat near a window with a book. Prolly not so much an option in your hood though, right?
