Oh. My. God.

My kid is driving me CRAZY!!! I want my old baby back!! He's 14 months old (12 months adjusted, born early), and he has turned into the biggest whiney babe ever. This is so unlike him, he used to be such a chill, laid back kid. Now, he just whines constantly. If I put him down to play, whine. If I pick him up, whine. Whine, whine, whine. I know it's probably just the age he is right now, just getting clingier in general. But my goodness, I want my happy baby back!!!

monkeygirl went through a suuuuper whiny phase right around her first birthday....she would do that wicked fake "waaa haaa" cry and make super pathetic faces and sometimes she'd even say "baby ky" (baby cry). oh, the drama! my number one thing was that i didn't want to encourage it by giving her extra attention when she whined, so unless it was for a warranted reason i would kind of ignore her. it's not like i would leave the room or anything, but the last thing you want to do is be like "ooohhhh, my BABY! what's the MATTER? come HERE my poor little guy...ohhhh..." because then he'll be like "sweet! whining makes gets me so much attention!" i think it's probably a phase brought on by his newfound knowledge that his behavior can illicit responses. you know, a testing-boundaries, cause-and-effect kind of experiment.

monkeygirl still has her whine-o-rama moments now, but at least she's stopped fake crying and making her lips wobble!

Oh lord, the fakeness of some of it, grrrr!! Yeah, especially when he's acting like we just killed his puppy and then literally the next second he's laughing at us. I'm onto you, kid!
And I definitely try to ignore most of it, especially when he's just mad that I've "redirected" his attention away from pulling the computer monitor off the desk. Man, I'm such a bitch mommy. Ah, kids, the phases they go through. Nice to know it's not just us, that the rest of you guys are having such a crap time too! Evil

Gratefully, my boy never did that, but as a teacher I saw it A LOT! I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I'm sorry that I think it's so hilarious when I see other babies do it!

I wonder if they make those for kids.

How about some whiskey? I know tequila always does it for me when I'm whiney!

Lol! Joking of course! Poor kid! I wonder if he has a tooth coming in or something. I know my baby had become way more aware of his surroundings at that age and was learning to do more things, it kind of freaked him out. When he started to crawl for the first time he cried! "oh my god! what are my arms and legs doing? why am i over here?" lol!

Poor mama! You need a lollipop? (((CYBERPOP)))

Kid muzzle, I think you're totally onto something there.
Hmmm, I think I have some rum, maybe that would work.....

Yeah, it's quite possible he's teething, which I suppose is kinda a constant thing right now. That coupled with the whole trying to walk and talk thing, must be a bit overwhelming. Ha, he did the same crying thing when he took a few steps one time, like "what the hell is happening?!?!".

And I'm so stoked I got a cyberpop!! I'm imagining cherry.....
