its coming together

so our little plan to develop a creative arts space has been coming together recently. it started with bike night on thursdays... inviting people to bring their bike, tune it up with us, and go for a group ride. then we got together for movie night... we project a movie on the front of our building while a crowd gathers in the parking lot to watch the movie.

last night we had 50 people over watching a movie! when the first people started showing up (for our third movie night) and we didnt know them....i had a realization of "this is the moment when we are really doing it." its not just our friends coming over, these are people i have never met; and in a small community like ours, it can feel difficult to meet new people.

tonight i had a couple friends over for a photo shoot. one (skinny boy) arrived in TIGHT whit jeans. one (young lady) stepped out her vehicle in a tiny gold lamae bikini and tons of bling.
they jumped on the giant trampoline upstairs in our warehouse while we took pictures.
yep... its really coming together.

It all sounds so very cool.
Not to hijack here but we started showing outside movies last year (on a screen hung on our outhouse) also and just decided to expand with:

I'm trying to cultivate ideas for community building. I live right by a park with lots of green space, now, and I want to do a craft in the park group (my place in the winter) or a single mamas & papas group or SOMETHING...bridge some gaps. *wheels are turning* The single parents thing is trying to happen on MeetUp in my area (I shouldn't give it its own life--*I* am trying to spearhead it) we just want another person to go in with us on the start-up costs affiliated. We know we have at least half a dozen interested folks just through the website itself, but we all po'. Dammit.

That sounds like something going on. And it sounds like fun! Watching movies outside is impossible at the moment over here, it is raining, raining, raining...
