i forgot to mention in my travellin' post that monkeygirl's fave new word is 'vagina'. she's been saying it for weeks now- first it was 'bagina' then 'gagina', now she's settled on 'kagina'. not a huge deal, it's actually very sweet and innocent when she says it. she's reeeally proud of it! the only issue i have is that she wants to talk to EVERYONE about her kagina, and not everyone is so openminded about it. she was telling people on the plane about 'mamas kagina' and 'noas kagina' and a couple of people realized what she was saying and got all awkward and no-eye-contact-ish. not to mention the old lady at the grocery store recently that practically keeled over from embarassment when monkeygirl screamed 'MAMA GAGINA!' while pointing at my crotch. anyway, i guess my question here is: should i feel sorry for the people who can't handle my daughter's pride in her new word? or should i (casually) try to encourage her to not say it so much? i'm on the fence about it, cause i realize that other people's issues with their 'kaginas' shouldn't influence monkeygirl's pride in discovering hers, yet... sometimes there are, uh, social 'cues' that children need to be taught. like that maybe not every single person you walk by wants to talk about your (or your mom's) kagina. any thoughts?? quark, i would love to hear your input on this!
