3 weeks gluten dairy sugar free

I'm such a stickler! My only cheat seriously is so minor, get this: I took one tiny sip of my daughter's root beer. That's it! I'm such a confessor that I feel compelled to mention this.

Notable things from my diet so far:
I've learned that there are good tasting options out there that don't have added sugars: peanut butter and jams, mainly, but also things like soy milk and almond milk. When I leave this diet, there's no reason to buy those things with extra sugar added.

I've also learned that fruit tastes so much better when you don't eat cookies, pastries, candy. Like orgasmically delicious, when it's your only source of sugar. Well except for the honey and maple syrup. I have been seen taking a teaspoon of honey a couple of times when the sugar craving got to me.

I like cooking with coconut milk! I like soy yogurts!

Dh is so sweet, making me a separate skillet of eggs on olive oil when we have our big egg breakfast (bacon, potato patties, sausage, fruit or tomato).

It's hard to guage whether my tiredness level is different on this diet, what with the 7 month old baby and toddler keeping me hopping. But I think that I still feel that sense of inner clarity I talked about early in the diet. I also know for sure that I don't get as tired sometimes mid-day the way I used to feel like I was drowning in a sea of glue and my eyelids had weights on them.

baby's up gotta go!

I read this part of your blog:
"I've also learned that fruit tastes so much better when you don't eat cookies, pastries, candy. Like orgasmically delicious, when it's your only source of sugar."

And it made me want to quit sugar.

Gratz! I'm proud of your progress so far!

it's totally cool that you're doing this. i'm going to be going on a no dairy/sugar/wheat cleanse when i'm given the ok by my naturopath. with an 8 week old, i'm not sure how long that'll be. but you've definatly inspired me and given me hope this last 3 weeks. i love reading it, eventhough i dont comment. (sorry!)

I can't eat sugar either, because i am hypoglucemic. I don't even sneak in the honey. And i think what has been amazing to me is how sweet food is by itself when you don't eat any sugar. I can do dairy and milk seems like candy to me. I can't even eat bananas by themselves becuase it's just tooooo nasty sweet- overwhelming. i use them in baking as a sugar substitute.
I'm glad you are enjoying your new diet.
