Feeling a little better than before...so, how bout some idiot box chat?

Submitted by Resolution on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 4:05am.

And by idiot box I mean "TV".

I've been back into "Weeds", because I can't get enough. Catching onto "Dexter" pretty quickly..."NCIS" reruns, "So You Think You Can Dance", "SuperNanny" and "Wife Swap".

I feel like a dork loving TV so much right now, but you gotta remember I'm on bedrest...so I'm stuck with books, TV, and chillin'...and of course, hipmama... Eye-wink

So, for those that do watch some TV...whatcha watching?

with TV shows and haven't really been into anything (or had the consitant time to watch anything). I did decide to get back into an older show or two. I just recently went to the library and checked out Northern Exposure. Going to start that from the beginning and am considering doing the same with the X Files too.

Followed closely by Lost.
I am currently in Season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's awesome, though not as awesome as Dark Angel!

I finished all five seasons of Alias while I was in school these last 9 months, and that was great too.

Me too! I try to go through all seven seasons once a year, Angle, too. I love those shows. Esp. Buffy.

Lost--I'm so sad that season four is so far away
Regenesis-- a Canadian science/messing with genes to cure viruses and save the world drama--It's surprisingly good and on late (tonight I think) and thought worthy.
Heroes--on DVD
Alias--On DVD
So you think you can dance--Schooby doobby dowa dance, dance, dance, dance.
Edit to add--I was thinking of rewatching Firefly--that was a great series but so short...

Oh, oh, I forgot, The Riches!!! Does anyone else watch this? The last season is over, so it's not on right now. But I love it, I love Minnie Driver in it, I'm not a huge fan normally, but I love her in that. And Eddie Izzard, I don't know why I have a crush on him, but I do. Anyways, love that show. The premise is out there, the bad logic of it drives my husband crazy. But I got over that fast.

I got it from netflix and it won't play on the playstation. We need to get a grownup dvd player anyway I guess.
I LOVE Dexter, I am anxious for season 2 to be on dvd
I am watching 'John Adams' right now and 'Married with Children Season 3' My entire queue is basically just tv shows on dvd

so I mostly watch shows online or on N*tflix. Here's what I'm zoning out on these days:
1. The Wire - Does anyone else watch this? Richard Price (wrote "Clockers") and Dennis Lehane ( wrote "Gone, Baby, Gone" and "Mystic River") both write for the show. It's soooo good. My husband and I are finishing up season 3 right now...we consider this our bonding time.
2. Weeds - just finished season 2...is season 3 available on dvd yet?
3. I'm a diehard Lost fan, and I'm missing it now that it's on summer hiatus.
4. Big Love - Bill Paxton bugs the turds out of me, but I like the storylines.

We just finished the final season (downloaded on the DL). We try to make everyone watch this show, but nobody listens...why won't people listen!?!?! Best. show. ever. My DH fell in love with Obama when he heard that Obama loves Omar.
Not big TV watchers (netflix mainly) We have season 1 of weeds waiting for us but haven't started yet. In the fall we are office/30 rock fans. Lost - of course! I hear project runway will start again in July (but might potentially suck?) I'm a huge fan even though I have no fashion savvy myself.
I never watch tv when the kids are awake - so we only have time for a little here and there.

FINALLY another fan of The Wire!! Honestly, because we only have basic cable, I only learned about it six months ago when Terri Gross went off about how great it was on Fresh Air. Then I started hearing about it everywhere and forced my husband to sit down and watch it. Now he's a bigger fan than I am and wants to make out with half the characters.
Knowing that Obama is an Omar fan makes me feel that much more certain that he'd be a good president. Who couldn't love Omar?!

I can't pinpoint why he bugs me...I think I'm just annoyed by his character.

Submitted by bleu7102 on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 7:55pm.

I can see that. Like when he goes into the whole "I'm the head of the household, that's why!" thing, that's annoying. But of course that just goes hand in hand with the whole religion thing. And the women do what they want anyways, so it's more amusing than anything!

Corner Gas is also a new favorite. It's a Canadian series but it's just like the small town I grew up in and it's pretty funny.

My faves are
The Office- The freakin best
Big Love- I hate how far apart the seasons are on HBO
30 Days
Ugly Betty- I really shouldn't like this show, but I started watching it from the beginning so now I'm invested
Intervention- Makes me realize how lucky I am and how fast things could turn

OH yeah, I like 30 days, too. The new season is starting (or recently has started)!

Also, Big Love is on my list of "Love To Watch."

I don't think I've ever heard of 30 days? What is it?

Submitted by bleu7102 on Mon, 06/23/2008 - 4:32pm.

The guy who did "Supersize Me", Morgan Spurlock, he has a show on FX. Basically, either he or another person goes and lives a completely different life for 30 straight days. Like, the first episode of this season he went and lived with a family of coal miners and worked in the mines for 30 days. The last episode was really good, a southern hunter went and lived with a family of vegans who also work with PETA. Basically, just getting out of your comfort zone and seeing what someone else's life is really like. Good stuff. Can't remember which night it comes on, we Tivo everything so I never keep up with it! Rent the first season, really good.

Currently watching, Lost, on-line. Just finished season 3 of, Weeds! I like Weeds, but it pisses me off at the same time. Her mothering! Gah! I was into Top Chef but now they are in between seasons. And I'm a faithful watcher of Bones and Hell's Kitchen. I also like Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and Tony Boirdan's (sp): No Reservations. I just started watching the new show, Swingtown, and am liking that. Of-course, TV watching wouldn't be the same without, The Office! Love that show.

So, right now, I'm only watching: Lost, Hell's Kitchen, and Swingtown. Eye-wink

I'm glad to know someone else is a little put off by the parenting techniques on Weeds. I thought for a minute that I was being a bit of an uber-stickler about proper parenting skills. Still like the show though.
I've never watched Top Chef before, but my friend has made it on to the cast for next season, so I'm excited about keeping up with it.

I've never watched it before, but I ran across it on the internet the other day and I have already watched the first 2 seasons and now I'm on the 3rd. Should be caught up tomorrow!
