Help..Making lotion w/kid?? Also make up advice?

Submitted by Catmama on Mon, 05/12/2008 - 2:28pm.

Ok, so my daughter wants to play with make up. She's almost 5.
Her little friend plays with it (lip gloss/eye shadow) and now Mia wants to. I told her she could wear chapstick and we would make some lotion. Any tips? Wh0le foods essential oils with unscented lotion???

Am I too much a hardass? Should she be able to play with it at home? I wear some. I told her I'm a grown up and when she's grown she can make her own choice. Oh, and here's the latest.

but not with the end effect of her looking like a grown up, more with the end effect of her looking like a drag queen. KWIM? i am talking glitter, mama. glitter and unnatural colors and silver lame fake eyelashes and whatnot. make it fun and over the top. that is what i would do, cause the "look at me i am pretty" would make me cringe, while "look at me, i am fabulous!" would not.

I'm think Devine!
Of course, I'll have to tell MArk it was your idea.

BUT, that said, I think you are on to something.

...and I let the girls wear lip gloss if we get to go out to eat or for their birthdays. I'll put eye shadow on them at home so they can see what "sparkly eyes" look like. I figure if I show them now how to do it and make it a special thing, it'll lead to less rebellion later (who knows?). I've explained to them that full on make up like Mommy wears is for MOMMY, not for anyone else. I spend the majority of the time lately without it anyway, so they only see me do it when I go to dr's appts.

Your daughter is lovely! She is absolutely beautiful Smiling

is a good idea. It's like one of those phases you think your kid is not interested and then, wammo. Like pretending a stick is a gun or wanting a video game.
