1. Mother in law left yesterday. I'm grateful that she CAME and we had a good time. She was on her best behaviour and the few times she did start to get weird I sweetly moved her forward into a better space. Go me! (and her for following my lead). We had a good time, she got a vacation and the kids got to see their granny.
2. Step-mom got to visit for three days as well, SO MUCH FUN. I LOVE THIS WOMAN SO MUCH. She's a treasure. She gave me a really sweet, thoughtful gift for mama's day. It was awesome.
3. I decided not to expect anything from DH as he's been really overwhelmed at work and we had TWO out of town guests this last 2 weeks so when he came and kissed me this morning and told me he didn't have anything it was great to be able to honestly say I wasn't disappointed and that I wasn't mad. You should have seen the look of relief on his face. He took Dee out so I could hang and get up easy and they came home with a coffee for me...and SWEENY TODD...I love me some Johnny Depp! It was really nice.
4. MIL bought me "my mother gave me the moon" as the gift Dee was to give to me. If you haven't read this book do it. Too sweet, I cried as I read it to Dee.
5. DHs lingering guilt got him to instal a new door bell that has been waiting to be put in for about a month, w00t for new doorbells!
6. BOTH kids are sleeping right now!!!
7. DH hates his job bad, want's to quit in a big way. He's communicating about it though instead of just festering, so happy about this. Also means moving to NW sooner rather than later I think.
8. Crabapple tree out my window is blooming RED flowers, so pretty!
9. Trip to O'hare to take MIL to airport went really well. DH wanted to go alone but I'd already had to put kids down alone on Friday so he could have dinner with his mama. Didn't want to repeat that (props to you single mamas, dude, that sucked). I told him, he listened, go go marital communication!
10. MIL thanked me for being kind, sweet and hospitable on her visit. Awesome.

you held the mother down, literally!! this was great to read!! i'm proud of how you handled the MIL, and glad that you guys had fun!
i've had mother's days that weren't about presents, etc. and had a great time. it's never about the gifts. dh is cool in my book.
*plus* johnny depp is the ultimate gift! i fucking loved 21 jump street!
i hear you about dh's job, i think he's done a great job overall taking care of your family. he always has, he always will. i think it's great that he's talking about, i support what works for him and you guys.
