My mom got me a $75 gift certificate to Powell's, our giant independent bookstore here in Portland. I'm stoked! Any suggestions of books so good you need to own them rather than just borrow them from a friend/the library?

By Amy Silverstein

Gives aching detail on how a 26 year old woman survived heart failure via transplantation...and how now, almost 20 years out of transplant, as one of the first candidates, she copes in a world that average person cannot even imagine. Very thought provoking and will make you look at transplant, or educate you about transplant in ways you could've never imagined. One brave chick, lemme tell you.

I've never heard of this book. My husbands Mom had a heart transplant a few years ago and he has the same disease she does so transplants are always in my head. I'm checking this book out. Thanks!!!

was a great, informational, funny book about how is it to eat locally and seasonally,
my conclusion was though, you need a lot of money to do it,
but I loved the book!!!!!!

Life changing and totally worth having a copy. In fact, get two you may need them as this book disappears pretty easily. I've had to replace my copy twice. I've loaned it out 6 times and I've bought 5 copies over time for women I knew needed to read it, and all of them loved it.
