so we determined that isabel's rash was an allergy from a skirt and top that she put on without me washing first. i'm glad that issue is resolved. sometimes i could kick myself for being such an alarmist.

now i have another issue. the baby(5 and a half weeks old) will not stop fussing in the morning. she gets up about 8 am(after her 5:30ish feeding), gets changed, eats, burps, etc. but then she just will not let me put her down. i've tried putting her in the sling so i can keep some order in the house, but she won't go in it unless she's asleep, which defeats the purpose of me having her in the sling during the day. she only cat naps when she does fall asleep. i get 15 minutes here and there until about 2:30 when she does a marathon three or four hour nap provided isabel doesn't wake her up. i check and double check the diaper, i check for tummy bubbles, i try and nurse her but she just screams louder and whips her head back and forth. isabel was such an easy baby that i think i am suffering from culture shock. i can't get errands done because she won't sleep in the car seat either, she screamed all through trader joe's the other morning.

by the way, has anyone heard of alcohol upsetting baby's tummies? it's not like i'm out getting sloshed and it takes me about an hour to drink a glass of wine these days, but my mom accused me of making her fussy by drinking when i went out for my anniversary the other night. all i had was wine and it had been a few hours until i nursed her so the alcohol should have faded out of the milk(according to a recent study).

i'm just exhausted, frustrated, and on the verge of a mental breakdown.

but my third daughter cried from the time she was around 4-5 weeks untill she was 20 weeks old, almost drove me nuts, she ended up being lactose intolerent and thinking back it might have been dairy that I was eating and she also hated eggs, say they make her stomache hurt, so I have a feeling she is sensitive to them too.

But it can make a baby reject the breast. It shouldn't nec make her fussy, but I was going to guess a food reaction. What do you normally eat at dinner? Can you try cutting out all dairy for a week and see if it improves? I have heard dairy and garlic as the two biggest foods that irritate babies. There was a list out recently, forgot who put it out, showing restricted diets for bfing mom = less crying babies.

try eliminating dairy/soy and see if she starts getting less fussy. Is her poop a green color at all?

something is upsetting her stomach. Probably dairy/soy. I would just give those up and wait a week to see what happens. My niece had this problem and her baby responded to the diet change very quickly.

tell your mom to get over it. if anything the wine might help. it would not be making her fussy days later. ridiculous. one glass of wine is not going to hurt you or the baby.

good luck with the fussyness...

the hard part of being a mother. hang in there.
