seriously. i don't want to give birth in one of those ridiculous hospital gowns this time. and i'm a little too self conscious to go the naked route. so since i told them i want to wear my own gosh darn clothes when i deliver, what the hell am i supposed to wear?

In the hospital my babies were born at, there was no attire permitted. I was in a cloth gown upon admittance and stayed that way. It was very soft cotton and concealing. I was happy in that.

With my first, I brought a huge nightgown with buttons down the front. I wore it, along with the hospital free maxi pads (which included a belt!). The second time, I brought cozy tank tops and loose fitted pajama bottoms which worked out well. If you can, bring two of everything you think you could possibly want to wear - then youll be covered!

Wear a tutu and a leather jacket. And a tiara.

I took a comfy cotton robe with me to the hospital. I didn't wear it during birth, though--the whole thing ends up being pretty messy, so you don't want to wear anything that you don't mind ruining. I did wear the robe after cleaning up once the whole birth thing was over, though. You're kind of sore, especially for those first couple days, so not having to deal with pants was a good thing.

short cotton nightgown (long t-shirt type) that I wore during early labor.
I didn't want to be nude either but ended up that way both times...and I didn't care at all.

new cotton nightgown that came off when I was in transition. I wasn't feeling like I wanted to be naked for birth, but when I was in deep labor, those inhibitions were turned off by hormones and being focused (and by the pain).
Don't worry about that too much. Find something comfy to wear for early labor, but maybe aim for a natty t-shirt instead of a nice flannel nightgown. MINE STANK after all that work, and man is it work. I put on a new one for my birth center to hospital transport, but I still reeked, which is weird because I spent alot of time in the tub.

i took a nightgown but never got it out of the bag. i wore the hospital gown at the beginning... i guess it was just easier. when i got in the tub i went naked and never put anything on again. the last 6 hours i was in my birthday suit... and didn't give a rip. it was crazy. i remember the nurses putting a gown over me after i had her cause there were a lot of people flooding the room(meconium scare). but i really didn't care...
my SIL just kept a sports bra on. i think its whatever makes you feel comfortable. i think if i was going to do a top it would probably be an old soft tank.

i packed a birthing center bag complete with comfy cotton gown, robe, labor music, soft blanket, et cetera. never touched any of it. they had me put on a gown when they were deciding whether i got to stay or go home, and i never took it off until i got dressed to leave 24 hours later. i thought i would want the comfort of those things, but they didn't end up coming to the forefront of my brain until i saw the just-born photos of my daughter much later and wished i'd been wearing my own clothes in the pictures 'cuz it would've been more homey and less clinical.

i bought a nice comfy cotton nightie from a thrift store that I wore about the last month and then during birth. It was short enough to allow access, no sleeves, and buttoned down the front. It was very comfy and cheap so I didn't care that it got SOOOO bloody!
