Walls of Fire

My parents can look west from their front porch and see the flames. Perhaps they shouldn't live in a desert. And perhaps arid land, shrub brush, tract housing and dense popluations were never meant to mix. But at the moment I cannot hold them responsible.... I just want to know that they are alright.

I was a firefighter in what seems like a lifetime ago... I know what it is like to be surrounded by walls of fire up close and personal. I can't help picture my parents in their home as those walls move closer.

safe and protective vibes...here's hoping it is under control soon. you have to wonder what the arsonists (in the case of the Old Fire, anyway) were thinking??

I can't imagine.... but I am certain they weren't thinking about my mom's horse and my dad's cats and the rooms full of my parents collective life that will be left behind if the fire creeps closer (reflection of my own familycentric thoughts in light of what so many others have already lost).
