I just had a humorous essay published there, and some of the responses in their "comments" section have me scratching my head a little. It's in their "Notes from a Non-Breeder" column, and is called "Crying Uncle". Let me know what YOU think. I trust you Hipmamas.

So, yesterday, my cousin and her sons watched the YouTube video of the Portland rally we'd all attended on Sunday. The younger boy, T. stared at the computer screen closely as Barack went through his stump speech, studying the crowd--estimated by some to include as many as 70,000 people. He seemed concerned. Eventually, my cousin asked what was wrong. He pointed toward the monitor. "Why can't I hear me?" he asked.

We all met up today by the river for the Obama rally, and I got to see Barack deliver a stump speech in person, which definitely beat out seeing it on YouTube (except for the fact that on YouTube, you don't have to listen to a mix-tape of bad 90's alternative hip-hop before hearing the talk. I never realized how much I HAVEN'T missed the oeuvre of Arrested Development).--read more >>

Hipmamas-
What is up with this weird contraption called the Tummy Shield? Do any of you have any experience with it? It looks to me like it would be incredibly uncomfortable, and perhaps even unsafe. I'm tempted to add it to my list of dumb baby crap, but what if some of you think it's genius? Read more and give me your input at http://www.askgayuncle.com
And while you're there, check out my humorous non-fiction book "The Gay Uncle's Guide to Parenting", just out from Random House.
